About Us

Techeration was created as a way to use technology to improve the quality of life of both the young and the young at heart. Technology has done wonders for our society, but it is all too common to see kids becoming addicted to screens and, often times, less-mobile elderly adults being left behind in a rapidly advancing world reliant on technology.

Nearly all teenagers today can communicate with ease through the use of cell phones, text messages, email, instant messages, and social networking sites. These basic forms of communication could dramatically improve the lives of an increasingly elderly population that may not have been able to keep up on these new forms of communication.

These forms of technology are essential in bringing current events, far corners of the world, and friends and family to an elderly person’s living room, but it's more than that.

With the digital world at their fingertips, kids today are experts at sorting through information. While their knowledge has increased over previous generations, their patience has waned. This creates the perfect marriage between two very different generations that can learn from each other while creating lasting memories.

According to the US Census Bureau, the 65+ senior population is projected to increase 147% between 2000 and 2050 while the US population as a whole is projected to increase only 49% during the same period.

Our Youth Outreach Program will start to increase the number at
youth volunteers immediately so that, as the senior population continues to grow, so will the number of volunteers to provide them companionship and help them stay current with new technology, (more specifically new technology allowing them to communicate easier and help them stay mentally, socially and physically stimulated).
